Meet in El Poblado at 8:40 am, then ride horseback or by mule to a family-run coffee farm in Palmitas. Guides such as Christian and Mateo explain the coffee process, dress you as a coffee farmer, and lead hands-on picking, tasting, and a traditional lunch. Sugar cane processing is also part of the tour.

“I thought I knew a lot about coffee but Christian our guide proved me wrong! I learned so much to improve my coffee drinking experience! He was delightful and insightful. We got to dress as a true coffee farmer and pick ripe beans. I wish them many more years of successful tours as this experience was well worth it! Had a lot of fun.”

3.Coffee Tour, Horseback Arrival, and Sugar Cane

★★★★★★★★★★4.7 · 82 reviews · 6 hours · from $76

Travel from El Poblado to a family-run coffee farm with guides Christian and his relatives. Ride a horse or mule to the entrance, pick and process coffee, taste several brews, enjoy a typical lunch, and see sugar cane made into panela. English and Spanish guidance is available.

“The guide, Christian, who's family own the farm, was so knowledgeable, friendly and funny. We got to harvest, skin, and grind coffee as well as try many different types of coffee via different machines and filtering processes. The farm itself was beautiful, high up in the mountains with views that went on forever. Vultures swept overhead and the sun beat down as we walked in and amongst plantain and banana trees, cocoa plants, and other crops to get the coffee and it was truly a once in a life time experience. Thank-you Christian and family!”
